Our Story

We’re a homeschool family with a deep love for stories - the kind that spark wonder, build character, and bring families closer together. But as our kids grew older and their reading lists grew longer, we ran into a frustrating reality: it was nearly impossible to know what a book truly contained without reading it ourselves. And as our children grew, it became harder and harder to keep up with pre-reading all of the books for them.

Like so many parents, we want our children to explore, imagine, and grow through reading - but without the burden of hidden agendas, mature content, or values that undermine what we’re trying to teach at home. We weren’t looking for sanitized or shallow books - just ones we could trust.

So we started pre-screening books. Reading them, researching them, talking to other families - and we realized the need was bigger than just our family.

That’s how The Story Nest began.

We believe children deserve access to great stories that are wholesome, uplifting, and grounded in timeless values. We handpick every book and provide a matching Preview Page - giving you a quick summary, discussion questions, and a heads-up about anything you may want to know before handing it off to your kids. These Preview Pages are included with every purchase and are also available for purchase as individual downloads for families who already own the book.

Because parenting is hard enough. Choosing good books shouldn’t be.
